Job summary

Christ Church Primary School in Burton on Trent is seeking a Level 3 Teaching Assistant to support learning in EYFS and SEN needs. You will work under teachers, support planning, assessment, and provide pastoral care.

The role offers a welcoming, inclusive school community with opportunities for professional development within the Endeavour MAT, and the fixed-term contract from Sept 2026 for one year.

Qualifications

  • Has genuine passion for working with young children and supporting their learning journeys.
  • Patient, caring and enthusiastic with a proactive attitude.
  • Hold a Level 3 qualification (NVQ or equivalent) in supporting teaching and learning.
  • Has experience working with children with additional needs, including communication challenges.
  • Understands the primary curriculum and can adapt support to meet diverse pupil needs.
  • Works well as part of a team and values collaboration.
  • Has excellent organisational and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Working under the guidance of teachers to support learning in the classroom and, when needed, supervise classes for short-term, pre-planned cover.
  • Delivering structured support for pupils, including contributing to Individual Education, Behaviour and Support plans and guided reading sessions.
  • Supporting teachers with planning, assessment and accurate recording of pupil progress.
  • Providing pastoral support; assist with pupils’ personal needs, first aid and wellbeing practises.
  • Accompanying pupils on visits and extracurricular activities and help run out-of-class provision (breaks, lunchtimes) as required.
  • Using ICT to support learning and help develop pupils’ confidence with technology.
  • Encouraging resilience, independence, and confidence in our pupils
  • Contributing to the school’s high standards of behaviour and achievement

About the Role

As a Level 3 Teaching Assistant, you will be a vital part of our team, helping children overcome barriers to learning and thrive both academically and personally. Your role will include:
