Job summary

Meadowhead School in Sheffield is offering a Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship starting September 2026. This hands-on programme combines classroom experience with a Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship and online training supported by a dedicated tutor.

The role runs Monday–Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm (32.5 hours/week) at Dyche Lane, S8 8BR, with a pay of £8.00 per hour. Interviews take place early September; completion may lead to full-time opportunities.

Qualifications

GCSEs in English and Maths (4–9) required.
Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship standard qualification to be obtained.
Dedicated tutor with monthly remote tutorials.

Responsibilities

Work with the teacher to maintain an appropriate learning environment.
Work with the teacher in routine lesson planning, evaluating and adjusting lessons/work plans as appropriate.
Monitor and evaluate pupils’ responses to learning activities through observation and planned recording of achievement against pre‑determined learning objectives.
Provide objective and accurate feedback and reports to the teacher on pupil achievement, progress and other matters.
Be responsible for keeping and updating routine records as agreed with the teacher.
Undertake marking of pupils’ work and accurately record achievement/progress.
Promote positive values and good pupil behaviour, and encourage pupils to take responsibility for their own behaviour.
Liaise with parents/carers and participate in feedback sessions/meetings.
Administer and assess routine tests and invigilate exams/tests.
Provide general clerical/administrative support and prepare materials.
