Job summary

Balshaw’s Church of England High School in Leyland is seeking a Teaching Assistant to support teachers and students across year groups. The role is 30 hours 50 minutes per week during term time plus 5 inset days, with salary bands shown for full-time equivalents and paid pro-rata.

Applicants may have TA2 and train toward TA3; a proactive, flexible candidate with good interpersonal skills is ideal. Safeguarding checks and DBS processing apply as part of the selection process.

Grade 5 New Pay Spine Point 6 -11 (£25,989 - £28,142) or Grade 6 New Pay Spine Point 11-19 (£28,142 - £32,061) - please note the salary quoted is full time equivalent and will be paid on a pro‑ratio basis.

We will consider applications from applicants with the TA2 qualification if they are willing to complete the training and work towards the TA3 qualification.

Balshaw’s values its team of Teaching Assistants very highly and has maintained a large group of TAs who all work at TA3 level (or are working towards this). This is because our highly skilled team of TAs are able to plan and deliver teaching to small groups and have a very proactive role in the development and care of our students who need that closer level of care or supervision.

The school is looking to appoint a committed, enthusiastic individual to the position of Teaching Assistant. The role we are looking to fill will support teachers and students in any designated year group. The successful applicant will ensure that every child is able to gain the most from their education by supporting them with their additional needs to maximise the learning as required. We are looking for creative candidates who will make a big impact in the life and learning environment of our pupils.

The successful applicant will have a keen interest in working with children and in supporting and developing their learning. We will consider applications from applicants with the TA2 qualification if they are willing to complete the training and work towards the TA3 qualification.

As a member of our successful Teaching Assistant team you will have good interpersonal skills, be flexible and focused on the needs and wellbeing of the child. You will be a team player with a 'can do' approach to work and a good sense of humour.

Essential Qualifications
  • NVQ level 3 or above qualification (or equivalent) - in exceptional circumstances, where local circumstances dictate, qualifications may be viewed as desirable
Desirable Qualifications
  • Level 2 or equivalent qualification in English/Literacy and Mathematics/Numeracy
Essential Experience
  • Experience of working with children
  • Experience of working in a relevant classroom/service environment
