Job summary

Flanderwell Primary School is seeking a caring Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 support for a child with medical needs. The role focuses on enabling access to the curriculum, participation in lessons, and building confidence and independence within a nurturing school community.

The successful candidate will work with the class teacher, SENCO and other staff to ensure consistent support, safeguarding, and inclusion while maintaining high professional standards and confidentiality.

We are seeking to appoint a caring, enthusiastic and committed Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 support for a child with additional medical needs.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is patient, nurturing and able to build a strong, trusting relationship with a child, while helping them to access learning and participate fully in school life.

The successful candidate will:

Provide consistent and supportive 1:1 care and educational support throughout the school day.

Support the child to access the curriculum and participate in lessons and wider school activities.

Develop a positive, trusting relationship with the child, promoting their confidence, independence and self-esteem.

Follow the child’s individual healthcare plan and school procedures, working closely with parents/carers and relevant professionals.

Be attentive to the child’s medical needs and respond appropriately to any changes in their wellbeing.

Support the child’s social and emotional development and inclusion within the wider class and school community.

Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and other members of staff to ensure the child receives consistent and appropriate support.

Maintain high standards of confidentiality, safeguarding and professional conduct.

Contribute positively to our caring and inclusive school community.
