Job summary

Alder Forest is seeking Teaching Assistants to support learners across Primary and Secondary settings on temporary supply assignments. You will assist with classroom activities, help individual pupils and small groups, and support with safeguarding and inclusive practices.

Ideal candidates have experience with children, strong communication, and a proactive, patient attitude. Flexibility to work across different schools and year groups is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Support teachers with classroom preparation and daily activities.

We are recruiting for dedicated Teaching Assistants and LSA's support teachers and pupils within Primary and Secondary school settings on a temporary supply basis, helping to create a positive and engaging learning environment while assisting with classroom activities and student support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support teachers with classroom preparation and daily activities
  • Work with individual pupils and small groups to support learning
  • Assist students with additional learning needs where required

Primary School Duties May Include:
  • Supporting phonics, reading and numeracy activities
  • Assisting with creative and practical classroom tasks
  • Providing pastoral support to younger pupils
Secondary School Duties May Include:
  • Supporting students across a range of curriculum subjects
  • Working alongside SEN departments or intervention teams
  • Assisting students with organisation and classroom engagement
Essential Requirements
  • Previous experience working with children or young people
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work flexibly across different schools and year groups
  • Positive, patient and proactive attitude
  • Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities in education settings
Desirable Skills & Experience
  • Previous Teaching Assistant experience in Primary or Secondary schools
  • Experience supporting SEN students
  • Relevant qualifications such as CACHE Level 2/3, NVQ or equivalent
  • Behaviour management experience
  • Knowledge of the UK school system and curriculum
