Job summary

Irchester Community Primary School in Wellingborough is seeking a part-time Teaching Assistant to support pupils in KS1 and assist class teachers in delivering mainstream learning during term-time. The post is fixed-term until the end of the academic year and is pro rata for 25 hours per week across 38 weeks plus holidays.

Qualifications

  • This post involvessupporting pupils on 1:1 or small group basis, as well as supporting class teachers to deliver highquality mainstream learning.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting learning activities including additional learning needs and development (1to 1 or identified group)
  • Helpingwith/ contributing to the motivation, pastoral care, welfare and supportof pupils.
  • Establishingand maintaining secure relationships with individuals and groups.
  • Establishpositive relationships with children and links with parents whereappropriate
  • FollowSENCo / teacher advice in implementation of the child’s pastoral supportplan
  • Maintaindaily records for individual child’s targets and feedback to SENCo /teacher
  • Assistin the preparation of materials for child/children to enable improvedaccess to the curriculum.
  • Workas part of a team, in partnership with the class teacher, SENCO or otherTAs
  • Provideindividual, paired, group or general support as needed for the designatedpupil(s) taking individual targets into account.
  • Attendmeetings and liaise with parents, as required, regarding the child’sprogress.
  • Undertakingspecific programmes of support as directed by the SENCO
  • Regularand accurate records on the achievements and progress of individuals andgroups.
  • Assistingwith the development, preparation and maintenance of resources.
  • Contributingto the management of pupils’ behaviour and welfare promoting goodbehaviour at all time.
  • Assistingwith preparing/ maintenance of the learning environment through displays,tidying etc.
  • Assistingwith supervision of pupils during school visits or at break times,including before and after school as identified.
  • Carryingout any reasonable duties relating to the position, within the scope ofthe post, as requested by class teacher, SENCO or head teacher/ deputyheadteacher
  • Upholdingthe aims and policies of the school and following agreed procedures.
  • Maintainingconfidentiality
  • Communicatingconcerns – particularly those relating to pupil welfare or childprotection to the designated safeguarding lead (DSL). Adhere to allsafeguarding policies and procedures
  • Participatingin appraisals / training / Professional Development to the benefit of theindividual and school.
  • Administrating basic first aid support as neededwithin the limitations of any training received

The candidate will be required to undergo a full enhanced DBS check and must be eligible to work in the UK.

  • Helping to raise standards of achievement for all pupils
  • Working with pupils as part of the school team, planningand delivering educational programmes under the direction of the class teachers
  • Enable children with additional needs to be happy, safeand confident in school and access learning
Keyresponsibilities:
