Job description

We are seeking a Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Teaching Assistant to join a dedicated team at a secondary school in Stoke-on-Trent, starting immediately. The successful applicant will support pupils with various special educational needs, including Autism and behavioral challenges, to help them thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities

1. Nurture pupils in developing lifelong, transferable skills.
2. Assist in providing one-to-one and small group support.
3. Create rapport with parents and track student progress.
4. Support the emotional and social development of pupils.
5. Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Ideal Candidate

1. Experience working with SEND pupils.
2. Good behavior management skills.
3. Strong interpersonal skills and knowledge of SEND best practices.
4. Eager to support students academically and emotionally.
5. Ability to work collaboratively in a team to ensure pupil progression.

About The Role

SEND Teaching Assistants should have a positive attitude towards pupils and support them in achieving success and excelling in the classroom. The candidate should demonstrate assertiveness, good behavior management, and a passion for supporting SEND pupils. Previous experience working with SEND pupils is preferred. Candidates should be able to support pupils of varying abilities.
