The successful candidate(s) will hold a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or be willing to work towards one.

You will be adaptable and ready to work in a variety of classroom roles, both indoors and outdoors, according to individual needs. Taking a responsive and caring approach, you may run classroom activities, lead outdoor experiences, or supervise pupils as they explore further afield.

Purpose
  1. Provide comprehensive, professional, and tailored support to teachers to assist pupils with their educational and social development, both in and out of the classroom environment within a specialist school for young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health, ASC, or other complex needs.
  2. Provide adaptable and flexible communication styles based on individual pupil needs to achieve sustained progress.
  3. Understand and role model OFG’s cultural and behavioral expectations as a leading provider of education and employer of choice.
Qualifications
  1. Evidence of essential qualification will be required prior to employment.
  2. A good standard of general education with at least a C (or equivalent) GCSE in numeracy and literacy.
  3. Level 3 teaching assistant qualification (or willingness to work towards).
  4. Experience working with pupils with special needs.
  5. Willingness to undertake any necessary training or qualifications as deemed by the organization.

Smallbrook School is currently increasing capacity from 50 to 80 students and investing in developing KS2 and sixth form provision. We are a co-educational day school for pupils aged 7-18 with complex needs, including social, emotional, mental health needs, autism, and related behaviors.

You will contribute to making Smallbrook School an outstanding provision for our young people and their families. We offer a therapeutic, supportive, and inclusive learning environment, committed to raising achievement and enabling pupils to recognize their potential through a personalized, engaging curriculum. Our goal is to develop foundational knowledge and skills for smooth transitions to the next life stage.

Our school is located halfway between Shrewsbury and Wem in Shropshire.
