Job summary

Apex Education Recruitment is recruiting a dedicated Teaching Assistant to work with KS1 children in a mainstream classroom, with a focus on supporting learners who have learning difficulties. The role runs Monday to Friday, 08:30am to 03:30pm during term time.

You will provide targeted SEN support, deliver engaging activities and help pupils develop confidence, independence and social skills while maintaining a positive, inclusive learning environment. DBS checks apply.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with KS1 children in a mainstream setting.
  • Understanding of SEN support strategies in classroom.
  • Ability to deliver engaging, differentiated activities.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Patient, proactive and nurturing approach.
  • Willingness to assist with personal care if needed.

Job description

September 2026 start – recruiting for a dedicated and proactive Teaching Assistant to work with KS1 children in a mainstream classroom, with a particular focus on supporting children who have learning difficulties and who struggle with the school day.

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 08:30am to 03:30pm (term time only).

Teaching Assistant Role & Requirements
  • Support teaching and learning with children in a KS1 classroom.
  • Provide targeted support to children with SEN (e.g., ASD, ADHD, Speech & Language needs).
  • Assist in delivering engaging and differentiated activities.
  • Promote a positive, safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Help children develop confidence, independence and social skills.
  • Experience and skills to work with KS1 children.
  • Understanding of SEN support strategies within a classroom.
  • A patient, proactive and nurturing approach.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Happy to assist with personal care if needed.
  • L2/L3 Teaching Assistant/Care or SEND qualification.
