Job summary

Swinton Academy is seeking an ambitious Level 3 Teaching Assistant to support learning and teaching within the academy and the Enhanced Resource. You will assist the teacher with planning, resource preparation, and implementing work programmes both inside and outside the classroom.

Responsibilities

• Assist with lesson plans and evaluate/adjust lesson/work plans.
• Supervise and support pupils, ensuring safety and access to learning during visits, trips and activities.
• Establish good relationships with pupils, provide pastoral support and act as a role model.
• Monitor and record pupil progress and response to learning activities.
• Administer routine tests and invigilate exams; undertake routine marking as directed.
• Encourage pupils to interact and work cooperatively with others and engage in activities.
• Support pupils consistently while recognising and responding to individual needs; promote independence.
• Receive and supervise pupils excluded from or not on a normal timetable.
• Provide feedback to pupils on progress and achievement.
• Establish productive relationships with pupils and maintain high expectations.
• Teach whole classes short term as required.
• Model and promote positive values, attitudes and behaviour.
• Be willing to be fully involved in life of the academy.
• Role may involve working at other academies within the trust.

Job description

We are seeking to appoint an ambitious and enthusiastic Level 3 Teaching Assistant, who will work with colleagues to support the learning and teaching of children in Swinton Academy within the academy and the Enhanced Resource. The post-holder will support access to learning for pupils by assisting the teacher, including the management and preparation of resources, implementing agreed work programmes both within and outside of the classroom, assisting with the whole planning cycle, and providing general support in the classroom. The Level 3 Teaching Assistant may use their detailed and specialist knowledge in particular areas to support individual or groups of pupils. They may also supervise whole classes for short periods of time. This role may be attractive to those who have attained the Level 3 standard, either through achieving the relevant qualification or by having equivalent experience Under the guidance of others, the Level 3 Teaching Assistant will:

• Support the teacher by assisting with lesson plans and evaluating/adjusting lesson/work plans as appropriate
• Supervise and support pupils, ensuring their safety and access to learning, including pupils on visits, trips and out of school activities as required.
• Establish good relationships with pupils, providing relevant pastoral support, and acting as a role model and responding appropriately to individual needs.
