About the Teaching Assistant Role:
  1. This Teaching Assistant position involves supporting a Year 6 pupil with SEMH needs who struggles with following adult instructions and occasionally has verbal (rarely physical) altercations with peers.
  2. You will help the pupil stay engaged with classwork, develop independence, and maintain motivation throughout the school day.
  3. The role includes running small group support sessions at social times to encourage positive peer relationships in a supervised setting.
  4. You will use sports and physical activities to motivate the pupil and provide structured play during break times.
  5. Full-time role, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with a 30-minute lunch break.
The Ideal Teaching Assistant Will:
  1. Have experience working with children with SEMH needs, preferably in a school or alternative education setting.
  2. Be patient, professional, and resilient, with a calm and consistent approach to managing behaviour.
  3. Be able to build rapport quickly and establish a positive, trusting relationship with the pupil.
  4. Have a background or interest in sports, coaching, or mentoring, as this will be beneficial for engaging the pupil.
  5. Have experience supporting behaviour management strategies and encouraging positive interactions between peers.
  6. Hold a relevant Level 2 or 3 qualification (desirable but not essential).
  7. Be able to provide two professional references covering the last three years.
Teaching Assistant Requirements:
  1. You will go through our quick and simple vetting process, with 24/7 consultant support.
  2. A clear Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
  3. Two professional references from work or education within the last three years.
  4. Previous experience working with SEMH pupils in a school, alternative provision, or youth support role.
Benefits for the Teaching Assistant:
