Position: SEN Teaching Assistant - KS1
Contract Type: Full-time / Term-time only

Are you passionate about making a real difference in a child's educational journey?

Do you have experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in a primary school setting?

We are currently seeking a dedicated and nurturing SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Lewes, supporting pupils in Key Stage 1 with a focus on both general classroom support and 1:1 intervention work.

• Provide support to the class teacher in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons in a KS1 classroom

• Work closely with a child (or children) on a 1:1 basis, offering tailored learning support and promoting social and emotional development

• Assist with implementing individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support strategies

• Foster a positive and safe learning environment for all pupils

• Collaborate with teaching staff, SENCOs, and external professionals to ensure consistent and effective support

• Experience working with children with SEN (particularly in Early Years or KS1 settings)

• A patient, calm and empathetic approach to working with young learners

• Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a collaborative team

• A relevant TA qualification (desirable but not essential)

• A genuine interest in supporting the educational and personal development of children with additional needs

• A supportive and inclusive school community
