Job summary

TeacherActive is recruiting a Teaching Assistant to support pupils in a UK secondary school setting in Chester. The role is flexible day-to-day with long-term opportunities for the right candidate, and pay ranges from £90 to £110 per day depending on experience.

The successful TA will assist across Key Stage 3 and 4, promoting positive behaviour, supporting learning and providing pastoral assistance as part of a welcoming school community. DBS checks and safeguarding compliance apply.

Qualifications

• At least 6 months' experience in a UK secondary school setting.
• Experience supporting students aged 11 to 16.
• Experience handling challenging behaviour, SEMH or SEND is desirable.
• Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills.

Responsibilities

• Support students across Key Stage 3 and 4 in classes.
• Promote positive behaviour and engagement in learning.
• Deliver targeted academic, behavioural and pastoral support.

These schools are committed to providing inclusive learning environments where every young person is encouraged to succeed through strong pastoral care, high expectations, and engaging classroom experiences.

The schools are looking to appoint a Teaching Assistant on a flexible day-to-day basis, with long-term opportunities available for the right Teaching Assistant. The successful Teaching Assistant will support students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, working alongside classroom teachers to promote positive behaviour, keep pupils engaged in learning, and deliver targeted academic, behavioural and pastoral support. Experience supporting students with challenging behaviour, SEMH or SEND would be highly beneficial.

The successful Teaching Assistant will have:

• At least 6 months' experience working within a UK secondary school setting
• Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or supporting young people aged 11 to 16
• Experience supporting students with challenging behaviour, SEMH or SEND is highly desirable
• Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
• A calm, resilient and proactive approach to supporting young people
