Job summary

Thistley Hough Academy in Stoke-on-Trent is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join the Success for SEND team. You will support students in class and through pastoral care, helping each learner reach their potential academically, socially and emotionally.

The role is full-time and permanent, 37 hours per week, term-time plus one week (39 weeks). Salary is Grade 5, points 6–11: £25,989–£28,142 per annum (£22,351–£24,203 actual salary). Start date as soon as possible.

Qualifications

  • Good reading, writing and mathematics skills, with GCSEs at grade C/4 or above (or equivalent) in these subjects.
  • Ability to build positive, professional relationships with children and young people.
  • Capacity to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Clear, friendly and professional communication skills when interacting with students, parents and staff.
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people to succeed academically, socially and emotionally.

Responsibilities

  • Support students in the classroom and through pastoral care, both individually and in small groups.
  • Assist teachers in delivering engaging lessons and monitoring student progress.
  • Build positive and professional relationships with students, staff and families.
  • Contribute to a nurturing and inclusive learning environment where every student feels supported.
  • Use initiative to respond to the varying needs of the day while maintaining clear communication with colleagues.

The role
