Job summary

Teaching Personnel Ltd. is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant in Telford (TF3) to support pupils with special educational needs. The role is full-time and term-time only, with a daily rate of £95–£110 depending on experience. Start date is November 2026.

The successful candidate will provide 1:1 and small-group support, work closely with teachers and SEND staff, and help create an inclusive learning environment where every pupil can access the curriculum and progress.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people, especially those with SEN/SEND.
• Patient, calm, compassionate and resilient.
• Able to build strong relationships with children.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Confident supporting pupils 1:1 and in small groups.

Responsibilities

Position: SEN Teaching Assistant
Contract: Full-time, Term Time Only
Salary: £95.00 - £110.00 per day (depending on experience)

We are working with a welcoming and supportive school in the TF3 area of Telford that is looking to appoint a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team. The Role

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

• Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with a range of special educational needs.
• Support children with SEND, autism, communication difficulties, behavioural needs and additional learning needs.
• Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils to encourage confidence, independence and engagement.
• Support pupils both inside and outside the classroom to help them access the curriculum.
• Assist teachers with delivering engaging lessons and adapting activities to meet individual learning needs.
• Encourage positive behaviour and help pupils develop their social, emotional and communication skills.
• Work closely with teachers, SEND staff, therapists and parents to support individual education and development plans.
• Help create a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
• Encourage pupils to become more independent and develop essential life and learning skills.

• Has experience working with children or young people, particularly those with SEN/SEND, autism or additional needs.
• Is patient, calm, compassionate and resilient.
• Can build strong and positive relationships with children.
• Has excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Is confident supporting pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis.
• Is passionate about helping children overcome barriers and achieve their potential.
• Can remain positive and professional when managing challenging situations.
• Holds a Teaching Assistant qualification or relevant experience (desirable but not essential).

• All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
