Responsibilities

  • Support class teachers in delivering engaging, inclusive learning experiences.
  • Work with individuals and small groups to reinforce learning and track progress.
  • Help create a stimulating, well-organised classroom environment.
  • Promote positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing and social development using supportive approaches.
  • Observe, record and share student progress with teaching staff.
  • Support pupils with additional learning needs as required.
  • Supervise pupils during breaks, lunches, trips and events.
  • Assist with preparation of learning materials, displays and resources.
  • Contribute to classroom routines, transitions and day-to-day organisation.
  • Uphold safeguarding and child protection policies at all times.

ROLE SUMMARY:

Wetherby Kensington is a two form, non-selective, pre-preparatory school for boys from Reception to Year 3. It follows exactly the same curriculum and shares the same values and ethos as Wetherby School and will be an integral part of the Wetherby Group of schools. Boys at Wetherby Kensington receive very high levels of academic education and pastoral care. We are seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and proactiveTeaching Assistant to join our team, supporting teaching and learning. The successful candidate will work closely with class teachers to create a safe, engaging, and positive learning environment that promotes curiosity, independence, and wellbeing.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Support class teachers in delivering engaging, inclusive, and child-centred learning experiences.
  • Work with individuals and small groups to reinforce learning and support progress.

  • Promote positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing, and social development using supportive approaches.

  • Uphold safeguarding, behaviour, and child protection policies at all times.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
  • Relevant experience working with children, ideally in a school or educational setting.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and professional conduct expectations in schools.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, staff, and parents.
  • A warm, patient, and proactive approach, with high expectations for pupil behaviour and engagement.
  • Flexibility and a collaborative mindset, with willingness to support across a range of classroom and school activities.
  • Ability to support learning effectively in both group and one-to-one settings, including behaviour and classroom management.
  • Experience in an international or diverse school environment (desirable).
  • Additional language skills relevant to the school location (advantageous but not essential).
