Job summary

Randstad Education in Great Yarmouth and surrounding areas is seeking a dedicated Primary Teaching Assistant to support pupils across early years and key stages. You can choose day-to-day cover or long-term placements, with real flexibility to fit around your schedule.

You will work alongside class teachers, assist with literacy and numeracy, support SEND pupils, and help maintain a positive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Previous experience supporting children in educational, childcare, nursery, or community settings.

• Provide support to class teachers in preparing resources, managing classroom activities, and maintaining a positive learning environment.
• Work 1:1 or with small groups of pupils to reinforce literacy, numeracy, and core curriculum tasks.
• Help children build confidence, focus, and social skills, offering gentle guidance and encouragement.
• Assist pupils with SEND by tailoring learning activities to suit individual learning needs.
• Support classroom management and encourage positive behaviour in line with school policies.
• Assist with supervision during break times, lunchtimes, and school trips as needed.

What We Look For:

• Previous experience supporting children in an educational, childcare, nursery, or community setting.

• A warm, patient, and encouraging approach with strong communication skills.

• Good standards of literacy and numeracy (GCSE Grade C/4 or equivalent in English and Maths preferred).

• An adaptable, proactive attitude with the ability to step into different primary classrooms with confidence.

• A valid Enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service (or a willingness to complete one).
