Job summary

Supply Desk is seeking a dedicated Primary Teaching Assistant to support a Year 6 pupil with additional needs on a 1:1 basis in Gosport from September 2026. This full-time, long-term role offers the opportunity to contribute to a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment.

The ideal candidate will have experience with Autism, a calm and patient approach, and strong communication skills. An Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one) is required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 6 pupil with additional needs.
  • Support learning activities within the classroom environment.
  • Assist with small-group interventions and targeted learning sessions.
  • Implement strategies to support communication, engagement and emotional regulation.
  • Encourage independence, confidence and positive social interactions.
  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and other professionals.
  • Monitor progress and provide feedback on pupil development.
  • Create a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Pay: £88 - £100 per day

Are you passionate about supporting children with additional needs? Do you have experience working with pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder or a desire to make a real difference in a child's educational journey?

Supply Desk are currently seeking a dedicated, patient and enthusiastic Primary Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in the Gosport area from September 2026.

This rewarding role involves providing 1:1 support to a Year 6 pupil with additional needs, helping them to access learning, build confidence and achieve their full potential. The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider support team, providing assistance both within the classroom and during small-group intervention sessions.

Previous experience supporting children with Autism is highly advantageous, although applicants with relevant transferable skills and a genuine passion for SEN support are also encouraged to apply.

The Role

  • An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
