Job summary

North Hill House is seeking a Teaching Assistant to join the Education team, supporting across key stages and working alongside the class teacher to assist pupils with their work and behaviour. The role requires adaptability, resilience, and a commitment to high standards of care for young people with SEN.

Located near Frome, the school offers a supportive environment with training opportunities and the chance to contribute to pupils’ development and confidence in a structured setting.

Qualifications

• Experience in a classroom setting is desirable but not essential.
• Strong commitment to supporting young people with SEN and autism.
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.

Responsibilities

• Assist the class teacher with pupil work and learning activities.
• Support pupil behaviour and create a positive, inclusive learning environment.
• Establish good relationships with pupils and act as a role model.

Job description

North Hill House are recruiting for a Teaching assistant to join our Education team. We are looking for versatile, resilient and committed Teaching Assistants, who can adapt their practice wherever necessary to support across all key stages. The successful candidate will work alongside the class teacher, assisting the children with their work and supporting with pupil behaviour while establishing good relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and responding to individual needs.

Set in its own grounds close to Frome town centre, North Hill House is an independent specialist day school for children and young people aged 6 to 19 years with high functioning autistic spectrum disorders, including Asperger’s Syndrome and associated difficulties.

The school has been specifically designed to provide a strong focus for both UK and international students who need different levels of support to succeed, thus allowing young people with autistic spectrum disorders, Asperger’s Syndrome and associated difficulties to thrive effectively in an ever-demanding and complex society.
