Job description

Location: Farnham, Surrey

Salary: (FTE A GBP 24,133 to A GBP 27,663 per annum) (Actual A GBP 17,442.84 to A GBP 19,994.26 per annum)

Hours: Term time only, 30.25 hours over 5 days. (8.50am-3.20pm Mon, Tues, Thur, Fri; 8.35am-3.20pm Wed)

The School converted to Academy status on 1st September 2018 and is part of the Multi Academy Trust. They were graded Outstanding by OFSTED in 2009, 2012, 2016, December 2022, and June 2024.

They are a special school for secondary pupils from Years 7 to 11 who have learning and additional needs.

The Role

They require teaching assistants to work term time only, 30.25 hours per week (8.50am to 3.20pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday; 8.35am to 3.20pm on Wednesday).

You would work under the direction of a teacher, supporting whole class learning, small groups, or individual students.

Responsibilities of the Teaching Assistant include:
  • Supporting the delivery of quality learning and teaching for pupils with special educational needs under the guidance of teaching staff/senior managers.
  • Working with children and young people with a range of significant and often complex SEND, such as autism, social, emotional, and mental health difficulties, moderate learning difficulties, speech, language, and communication needs, and challenging behaviour.
  • Undertaking specified work with individuals, groups, and whole classes under the supervision of a qualified teacher.
  • Encouraging pupils' participation in social and academic activities and helping them become more independent learners.
  • Supporting access to learning through work/care/support programmes and assisting in classroom management.
