SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Ashford, Surrey
Salary: £16,800 - £24,000
Start date: September 2025
Contract: Full-time and term-time only
Are you a recent Psychology graduate or have experience as a SEN Teaching Assistant?
We are working with a warm and welcoming specialist school near Ashford, Surrey, that is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team from September.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about supporting children and young people with special educational needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and moderate to complex learning needs.
SEN Teaching Assistant - responsibilities:
* Provide 1:1 or small group support to students with identified SEN.
* Assist the class teacher in adapting and delivering the curriculum.
* Encourage and support the development of students' social, emotional, and communication skills.
* Implement behaviour support strategies as needed in a calm and professional manner.
* Foster a safe and inclusive learning environment for all pupils.
SEN Teaching Assistant - about the school:
Located near Ashford, Surrey, this specialist school caters to pupils aged 4-16 with a variety of additional and complex needs. The school prides itself on its inclusive ethos, high staff-to-student ratio, and strong therapeutic support team, including speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, and behaviour specialists. Class sizes are small to allow for highly personalised learning, and staff receive regular training and support. There are at least 2 Teaching Assistants in each class, with no more than around 10 pupils per group.
SEN Teaching Assistant - requirements:
* An excellent result in a recent degree
* Experience working with children with SEN is desirable but not essential.
* A caring, patient, and flexible nature.
* Excellent communication skills and a team-player mindset.
* A proactive attitude with a willingness to learn.
* Must have, or be willing to apply for, an Enhanced DBS.
