Job summary

Empowering Learning is seeking passionate Supply Teaching Assistants to work across primary schools in Derby. You will support classroom teachers and help ensure smooth lessons, assisting with both academic and emotional development of children.

Responsibilities include delivering engaging activities, managing behaviour, working with groups or individuals, preparing materials, and providing pastoral care. Enhanced DBS checks may be required.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a primary school setting supporting classroom teachers.
  • Commitment to helping children reach their full potential.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building with staff and pupils.
  • Adaptable and proactive in classroom assistance.
  • A valid teaching assistant qualification is advantageous but not essential.

Job Description

We are currently seeking passionate and dedicated Supply Teaching Assistants to work across a variety of primary schools in Derby. As a Supply Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting classroom teachers and helping to ensure the smooth running of lessons, assisting with the academic and emotional development of children.

  • Supporting the class teacher in delivering engaging lessons and activities.
  • Assisting with the management of classroom behaviour, ensuring a positive and productive learning environment.
  • Working with small groups or individual students to provide targeted support.
  • Helping to prepare learning materials and resources.
  • Offering pastoral care to children, helping them develop both academically and socially.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Previous experience working with children in a primary school setting (either as a teaching assistant or in a similar role).
  • A passion for supporting young learners and a commitment to helping children reach their full potential.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with both staff and pupils.
  • Flexibility and adaptability, with a proactive approach to assisting in the classroom.
  • A relevant qualification (e.g., CACHE Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or equivalent) would be an advantage, but not essential.
