Job summary

Tiverton School in Coventry is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support pupils with diverse needs. You will assist teachers, monitor progress, and work with individuals or small groups during activities and trips.

The role requires safeguarding awareness, ICT and strong communication with pupils and families. Training and ongoing professional development are encouraged, with a commitment to inclusive education.

Responsibilities

  • Implement specialist programmes alongside professionals such as therapists.
  • Provide personal care where required, including feeding and intimate care.
  • Support behaviour management and contribute to positive learning environments.
  • Prepare classroom resources and maintain accurate records.
  • Promote effective communication between school and home.

What is the job role?

As a Teaching Assistant at Tiverton School, you will play a vital role in supporting the education and care of pupils with a range of needs.

Who are we looking for?

  • Holds (or is working towards) an NVQ Level 2/3 qualification or equivalent
  • Understands child development, safeguarding and inclusive practice
  • Has strong literacy, numeracy and ICT skills
  • Can communicate effectively with pupils, staff and families
  • Is able to support pupils with a range of needs, including personal care
  • Works well as part of a team and builds positive professional relationships
  • Is organised, adaptable and committed to ongoing professional development
  • Demonstrates enthusiasm, resilience and a genuine passion for supporting young people

Working hours are:

Monday - 8.30am - 4.30pm

15-minute unpaid break in the morning and 30-minute unpaid lunch break.

Interview Date: 19th October 2026.

The successful candidate will be required to undertake an enhanced criminal record check via the DBS, all relevant safeguarding and pre-employment clearances, and the receipt of two satisfactory references.
