Job summary

Engage Education is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant for a specialist school in Barnet. You will provide 1:1 and small‑group support to pupils with SEND, helping them access learning and develop independence in a nurturing setting.

The role requires a patient, calm approach, strong teamwork, and a passion for helping children reach their potential. TA qualification is desirable but relevant experience will be considered.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN/SEND.
  • Experience supporting pupils with Autism or complex needs is desirable.
  • Patient, calm and nurturing approach.

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

SEN Teaching Assistant – Barnet

We’re looking for a dedicated, patient and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive specialist school in Barnet. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs and wants to make a genuine difference to their development, confidence and learning.

The school supports pupils with a range of complex needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and moderate learning difficulties, within a nurturing and structured environment.

What you’ll be doing:
  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEND
  • Supporting pupils to access learning and develop their independence
  • Assisting teachers with differentiated activities and interventions
  • Supporting pupils with Autism and complex learning needs
  • Helping pupils develop their communication, confidence and social skills
  • Supporting positive behaviour and emotional regulation
  • Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils
  • Working closely with teachers and other support staff to meet individual needs
What we’re looking for:
  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN/SEND
  • Experience supporting pupils with Autism or complex needs is highly desirable

  • A genuine passion for helping children and young people reach their potential
