SEN Teaching Assistant – Barnet
We’re looking for a dedicated, patient and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive specialist school in Barnet. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs and wants to make a genuine difference to their development, confidence and learning.
The school supports pupils with a range of complex needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and moderate learning difficulties, within a nurturing and structured environment.
What you’ll be doing:
- Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEND
- Supporting pupils to access learning and develop their independence
- Assisting teachers with differentiated activities and interventions
- Supporting pupils with Autism and complex learning needs
- Helping pupils develop their communication, confidence and social skills
- Supporting positive behaviour and emotional regulation
- Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils
- Working closely with teachers and other support staff to meet individual needs
What we’re looking for:
- Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN/SEND
- Experience supporting pupils with Autism or complex needs is highly desirable
- A patient, calm and nurturing approach
- The ability to adapt your approach to suit individual pupils
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A genuine passion for helping children and young people reach their potential
- A TA qualification is desirable but relevant experience will also be considered
