Job summary

Reeson Education is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming mainstream primary school in Bolton. You will support pupils with SEMH, PLMD, and other needs, working closely with the class teacher to adapt lessons, foster emotional regulation and positive relationships, and contribute to an inclusive learning environment on a full-time, long-term placement.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with children with SEMH, PLMD, SEN, or additional learning needs.
  • Calm, patient and empathetic approach to support learning and classroom behaviour.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with teachers and support staff.
  • Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils and adapt to individual needs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEMH, PLMD, SEN, and additional learning needs.
  • Support pupils with learning, communication, emotional regulation, and classroom engagement.
  • Work alongside the class teacher to adapt lessons and activities to meet individual needs.
  • Provide consistent, calm, and positive support with behaviour and emotional regulation.
  • Help maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Encourage pupils to develop independence, confidence, communication skills, and positive relationships.
  • Support pupils in accessing the curriculum and taking part in school activities.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils and contribute positively to their development.

Reeson Education is currently recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming mainstream primary school in Bolton.

This is a full-time, long-term opportunity starting ASAP, with the potential for a permanent school contract for the right candidate.

The school is committed to providing an inclusive, supportive, and nurturing environment where every pupil is given the opportunity to succeed. You will work closely with pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PLMD), helping them access learning, develop confidence, manage emotions, and engage positively within the classroom.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide tailored 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEMH, PLMD, SEN, and additional learning needs.

The Ideal Candidate

The school is looking for a patient, caring, resilient, and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant who genuinely wants to make a difference to children with additional needs.

You will ideally have:

  • Previous experience working with children with SEMH, PLMD, SEN, or additional learning needs.
