It is the largest employer in the ward, with over 200 employees, and is part of the North Area Network of schools, one of six regions in the city. The academy is split into a Foundation Academy and a Senior Academy.

Our vision is Enriching Lives, underpinned by the values of Character, Resilience, and Aspiration. Our curriculum focuses on a rich, knowledge-based academic program, physical and mental well-being, and the use of 21st-century technologies to improve outcomes. We aim to help our students lead confident, healthy, and fulfilled lives as adults, prepared for the workforce.

Shaw Education Trust encompasses diverse schools, including primary, secondary, and special schools, all working to improve community lives. Sponsored by Shaw Trust, a charity dedicated to transforming lives, we provide education for children of all abilities. Our staff is committed to ensuring every child has the opportunity to succeed, regardless of their starting point.

In our secondary schools, we pride ourselves on innovative curricula that ensure breadth and ambition for all students. We continually seek to innovate, offering extended school days, enrichment programs, and vocational pathways supported by employers and universities to develop work readiness. Our curriculum development involves collaboration across schools to create a world-class, knowledge-rich, and skills-focused program, reducing planning workload and fostering strong student relationships.

Shaw Education Trust offers various employee benefits, including:

  • Generous holiday entitlement (37 days rising to 39 after 5 years, including Bank Holidays)
  • Electric Car Scheme
  • Health & Wellbeing Plan
  • Discount schemes for teachers and support staff
