Job summary

Westfield Academy in Yeovil, Somerset, is recruiting a Teaching Assistant to support students with special educational needs from September 2026. The role includes delivering 1-2-1 and small group interventions and supporting curriculum classes.

The ideal candidate will have excellent written, numeracy and oral communication skills, with the ability to be calm, firm and patient. DBS check required, and full training provided.

• Previous experience in a teaching assistant role is preferred.
• Experience of working with children is welcomed; full training will be provided.

What will I be doing?

Due to the expansion of our SEN provision, exciting opportunities have arisen at Westfield Academy for an additional Teaching Assistant. Experienced and enthusiastic individuals are required from September 2026 to join our dedicated team supporting students with special educational needs. You will be calm with the ability to be firm and patient and have excellent written, numeracy and oral communication skills. Supporting curriculum classes is a key element of the role, alongside delivery of 1-2-1 and small group interventions.

What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?

Whilst previous experience in a similar teaching assistant role is preferred, applications from individuals with experience of working with children and the right personal qualities are welcomed, as full training and support will be provided.
