SEND Class Teacher - Secondary Specialist Academy

Aspire People are proud to be supporting a dynamic and forward-thinking Secondary Specialist Academy, which is currently seeking an inspiring and innovative SEND Class Teacher to join their team in September 2025.

This is an exciting opportunity to make a lasting difference in the lives of young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and Autistic Spectrum Conditions/Disorders (ASC/D). The role is open to both experienced teachers and ECTs, with strong support and development opportunities available for the right candidate.

About The Role

You will be responsible for delivering a highly personalised, engaging, and inclusive curriculum that meets the needs of students aged 11-16 with complex SEND. Your classroom will be a safe, structured environment that fosters confidence, independence, and emotional well-being.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver creative, differentiated lessons in line with individual EHCPs and learning profiles
  • Use a therapeutic, trauma-informed approach to behaviour and classroom management
  • Establish clear routines and expectations to support pupils with SEMH and ASC/D needs
  • Develop strong relationships with students, colleagues, families, and external professionals
  • Monitor, assess and report on student progress and adapt teaching accordingly
  • Participate in regular reviews, team meetings, and CPD sessions
  • Contribute to a positive and nurturing school culture that promotes respect and resilience

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • QTS or QTLS (or pending for ECTs)
  • Knowledge of SEND best practice, particularly SEMH and ASC/D
  • A calm, adaptable and empathetic approach to teaching and behaviour management
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • The ability to plan for and deliver to a range of abilities within the classroom
  • A genuine passion for inclusive education and improving outcomes for vulnerable learners

Desirable (but Not Essential)

  • Previous experience in a specialist or alternative provision setting
  • Team Teach or equivalent behaviour de-escalation training
  • Understanding of trauma-informed practices and restorative approaches
