TEACHER OF SCIENCE REQUIRED FOR SEPTEMBER 2025
SCALE M1-U3 (OUTER LONDON ALLOWANCE)
We are seeking to appoint a well-qualified and enthusiastic Teacher of Science to join our highly successful school. Our science department is dynamic and collaborative, benefitting from outstanding resources, modern facilities, and a strong commitment to extracurricular enrichment.
Science is a real strength at St Mark’s. The department achieves consistently excellent results at both GCSE and A Level, with large numbers of students choosing to continue their scientific studies in the sixth form. Many go on to study science-related degrees at top universities, including regular success with Oxbridge, medicine, and other highly competitive courses. This success is rooted in a culture of teamwork and professional generosity within the department, where staff work closely to share expertise and support each other in delivering exceptional teaching.
St Mark’s was graded ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted in September 2022, and our recent inspection highlighted the exceptional relationships between staff and students that foster our culture of exemplary behaviour and a love of learning. Our Progress 8 score of +1.35 places us in the top 1% of all schools nationally for student progress, reflecting our unwavering commitment to academic excellence. This positive ethos is further reflected in The Sunday Times naming St Mark’s as the 14th happiest school in the country this year.
We are looking for someone who has:
Excellent classroom management, communication, organisation and teaching skills.
The ability to teach science to KS3, KS4 and KS5.
A desire to foster positive relationships with students and staff.
Motivation to try new ideas and keep pushing creative boundaries.
What are we offering:
Opportunities for high-quality professional development.
A friendly and helpful staff who genuinely care about staff wellbeing alongside our Catholic ethos.
Fantastic students who are keen, motivated and display excellent behaviour for learning in every lesson.
St. Mark’s Catholic School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
