Job description

As our popular, oversubscribed school continues to grow, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a candidate of exceptional ability to join our RS & Social Sciences team.

Position: Teacher of Religious Studies

Towers School and Sixth Form Centre is looking for a Teacher of Religious Studies who can teach from KS3 to KS5, starting in April 2023.

Our students follow the AQA GCSE Religious Studies specification, with 50% of the course focusing on Christianity and Buddhism, and the remaining 50% on philosophical and ethical themes. Religious Studies is an optional GCSE subject.

At KS5, students undertake the Eduqas GCE in Religious Studies.

Knowledge booklets are created and shared within departments to ensure purposeful and consistent lessons. Experience in teaching A-level Theology, Ethics, and Philosophy is desirable but not essential.

This is a full-time fixed-term contract with the potential to become permanent. We welcome applications from experienced teachers, Early Career Teachers (ECTs), and candidates with Religious Studies degrees.

Why work at Towers School?
  1. We have the best students!
  2. We believe in evidence-informed approaches to teaching and assessment.
  3. Teachers are regarded as subject experts delivering a highly academic curriculum.
  4. Our subject teams collaboratively plan their curriculum and utilize comprehensive knowledge booklets.
  5. We uphold high expectations of conduct with a rigorous behaviour system that allows teachers to teach without disruption.
  6. Our SLT is supportive and highly visible.
  7. Staff wellbeing is prioritized, with practices such as whole-class feedback instead of traditional marking, centrally managed detentions, and sensible data use.
  8. Investment in professional development ensures high-quality, research-driven CPD.
  9. We foster a strong community spirit, standing together in all we do.
  10. Staff, students, and parents are all proud to be part of Towers.
Testimonials

"A clear and ambitious vision for the school... has inspired staff and pupils, and as a result, a passion for success is evident throughout the school. High academic and behavioural expectations have transformed the school's culture." - Ofsted
