Job summary

St James is inviting applications for a Teacher of PSHE and Citizenship to join our high-achieving school on a fixed-term contract. 1.0 FTE with part-time consideration and a salary range of £32,916–£51,048, to cover MAT-wide collaboration and continued school improvement until 9 November 2026.

The post requires KS3/KS4 PSHE delivery, strong classroom standards, and active involvement in departmental and whole-school initiatives.

Qualifications

• Has a sound and developed knowledge of your subject and of its examination specifications.
• Has the ability and/or experience to teach PSHE at KS3 and KS4.
• Can create and maintain a disciplined and stimulating environment in which all students are well motivated and learn.
• Promotes the appreciation, understanding and enjoyment of your subject, being passionate about teaching it well.
• Monitors students' progress and create opportunities for all students to reach their full potential.
• Establishes good working relationships with students and colleagues and with the wider school community.
• Makes excellent and inventive use of available resources to assist in teaching and learning.
• Follows departmental schemes of work and assessments in planning work with each group.
• Completes regular assessments of students' work, providing them with feedback which allows them to make progress.
• Contributes to the production of resources.
• Attends and contributes to departmental meetings and contribute to departmental policies and developments.
• Attends evening meetings as required, including with parents.
• Keeps up to date records.
• Contributes to the production of examination papers and marking them when appropriate.
• Ensures that the requirements of external examinations are met.
• Ensures that the Teachers' Standards are met or exceeded in all your work.
