POSITION: Teacher of RE, PSHEE, Citizenship, RSHE and SMSC (Personal Development curriculum)

SALARY: Inner London (TLR negotiable for a suitable candidate)

START: September 2025

Purpose of the role:

Our Personal Development curriculum comprises RE, Citizenship, PSHEE, RSHE, and SMSC, focusing on students' understanding of British values, equality, diversity, inclusion, careers, wellbeing, and safety. The curriculum is delivered across all school phases, with this role specifically focusing on KS3-KS5. Delivery methods include timetabled lessons, form time, assemblies, and workshops/’drop down’ days.

We seek to appoint an exceptional teacher to work under the AVP Personal Development, delivering the curriculum to the highest standard and enhancing the wider school PD provision. This is an exciting opportunity to join a department recognized as an Area of Excellence by Challenge Partners and to contribute to innovative education practices.

The successful candidate will engage in professional development, promote a positive working environment, and aim for excellent student outcomes.

Teacher Responsibilities:
  1. Fulfil professional responsibilities as per the School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document.
  2. Meet the expectations set out in the Teachers’ Standards.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Planning
  • Plan lessons aligned with school policies and curricula, ensuring progression and high expectations.
  • Set challenging tasks and homework in accordance with policies.
  • Identify students with Special Educational Needs and plan support accordingly.
  • Design lessons that motivate, challenge, and develop students’ personal and cultural growth.
2. Teaching & Classroom Management
  • Deliver lessons that meet objectives with high expectations and discipline.
  • Create a safe, inclusive learning environment.
  • Use diverse teaching methods to stimulate enthusiasm and participation.
  • Differentiate instruction for all abilities.
  • Provide clear instructions, effective questioning, and constructive feedback.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress.
  • Promote students’ personal, spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development.
3. Whole School Procedures
  • Treat all students equally and safeguard their welfare.
  • Contribute to school policies, ethos, and extracurricular activities.
  • Participate in appraisal and curriculum development meetings.
  • Engage with parents and communicate student progress.
  • Carry out welfare duties and adhere to professional standards and punctuality.
  • Seek continuous professional development and reflect on teaching practices.

Familiarity with the Code of Practice on SEN and the use of IEPs is expected, with collaboration with the SENCO encouraged for student progress concerns.
