Job summary

Humberston Academy, part of The David Ross Education Trust, is seeking a qualified teacher to join a high‑performing team. You will teach pupils aged 11–16, plan engaging lessons and contribute to a curriculum that develops leadership, resilience and confidence.

The role can be full‑time or 26 hours per week, with strong opportunities for professional development. We value an innovative, technology-enabled approach and a commitment to equality, inclusion and safeguarding.

Qualifications

  • QTS or ECTs considered to start teaching role.
  • High standards of teaching and learning.
  • Strong knowledge of KS3-4 and curriculum.
  • Proven ability to innovate in lessons.

Responsibilities

  • Teach pupils aged 11–16 and per range as required for transition/outreach.
  • Plan lessons, activities, tutorials and sequences to meet individual learning needs.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of subject teaching and curriculum developments.
  • Deliver lessons in compliance with academy policies and procedures.

About the role

You are required to carry out the duties as set out in the relevant paragraphs of the current School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions document. The post requires you to teach pupils in the age range 11 to 16 and with others outside that age range as required for transition and outreach work.

In carrying out these duties you will need to work in compliance with all Academy policies and procedures as set out by the Trust and Governing Body and the reasonable direction from colleagues with the relevant position of responsibility.

You will have the role of Form Tutor, even when a form has not been assigned to you, and may be asked to carry out some or all of those duties if required.

To maintain a thorough and up to date knowledge of the teaching of your subject(s) and take account of wider curriculum developments which are relevant to your work.

To plan lessons/activities/tutorials and sequences of lessons to meet students’ individual learning needs.

This is a full-time position, but we would consider part-time at 26 hours per week.

  • QTS Qualified Teacher Status- ECT's considered
  • High standards of teaching and learning
  • A good degree in a specialist subject teaching qualification
  • Nationally recognised teaching qualification
  • High level skills, knowledge and understanding necessary to teach across Key Stages 3-4
  • A strong classroom teacher with an ability to innovate
  • Understanding of the importance of a knowledge rich curriculum
  • Able to showcase evidence of the use of technology in teaching and learning
  • Be flexible and responsive to a changing educational environment
