Job description

SEND Teacher - SEMH Provision (KS3/KS4)

Aspire People are working to support newly established specialist provision for Key Stage 3 and 4 pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This setting caters for learners with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) who require a nurturing, trauma-informed and highly supportive educational environment.

The Role:
We are seeking an imaginative, resilient and inspiring Teacher who can engage young people with complex needs across a broad range of curriculum subjects. A specialism in English is highly desirable, although applications are welcomed from teachers with expertise in other subject areas. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic, high-support setting and is passionate about re-engaging students who have struggled to access mainstream education.

Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver creative, differentiated lessons across the curriculum, tailored to individual needs
- Support the social, emotional and academic development of pupils with SEMH and associated needs
- Use trauma-informed and therapeutic approaches to manage behaviour and build positive relationships
- Contribute to a safe, inclusive and respectful school culture
- Work closely with teaching assistants, pastoral staff and multi-agency teams
- Play an active role in curriculum development and whole-school improvement

Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) - open to candidates from any key stage background
- Experience or interest in working with pupils with SEMH and behavioural challenges
- Understanding of trauma-informed practices and mental health support
- Strong behaviour management skills with a calm, consistent and empathetic approach
- A flexible, solution-focused mindset with a genuine desire to make a difference
- A committed team player who supports inclusion, innovation, and continuous improvement

This is a rare chance to make a real impact in a specialist school environment that values creativity, resilience and relational teaching approaches. Whether you're an experienced practitioner or an early career teacher looking for a meaningful opportunity, we'd love to hear from you.

Apply today through Aspire People or contact our SEND recruitment team to find out more.
