About Us

Darwen Vale High School (DVHS) is an 11-18 academy with a newly evolving sixth form, collaborating with DACA and DAES in the town. The school draws students from Darwen, Blackburn, and nearby areas, with around 30% qualifying for free school meals.

DVHS opened in September 2012 in redesigned buildings, growing from 150 to 240 students per year group. The school has seen rapid improvement, with significant achievement gains and being oversubscribed for several years.

Following a recent Ofsted inspection, Darwen Vale received a ‘Good' rating across all areas. The school's motto - We aim high. We work hard. We care. We are Vale. - reflects the community's commitment to continuous improvement.
