About the role
As an English Teacher at Colchester High School, you will play a vital role in shaping pupils’ academic and personal development. You will plan and deliver engaging lessons tailored to a range of abilities, assess progress regularly, and maintain accurate records to track and maximise pupil achievement. You’ll promote positive behaviour, create a stimulating learning environment, and contribute to the wider life of the school through assemblies, clubs, and school events. Your responsibilities will also include working collaboratively with colleagues, maintaining communication with parents, and ensuring the safeguarding and wellbeing of all pupils.
This is a part-time 0.6 FTE, permanent role with a September start date.

You are a passionate and dedicated English teacher with a relevant good quality degree and PGCE. You understand how to adapt your teaching to meet individual pupil needs and are confident with classroom management and assessment strategies. You have excellent communication skills, work well within a team, and are committed to maintaining high professional standards. Your attention to detail, creativity, and enthusiasm for your subject inspire pupils to achieve their best. With a sound understanding of safeguarding practices and a willingness to contribute beyond the classroom, you’ll be a valued member of our thriving school community.
