We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Teacher of Design Technology to deliver high-quality lessons that support students in achieving outstanding progress. The successful candidate will set clear learning targets, assess student progress with regular feedback, and ensure students are well-prepared for examinations. With a genuine passion for Design Technology, you’ll help our students grow academically, socially, and emotionally, while staying up-to-date with current educational thinking. They will contribute to schemes of work, maintain a stimulating learning environment, and engage with parents and the wider school community. The role also involves taking responsibility for professional development and actively participating in school duties and performance management activities.
The Design and Technology Faculty consists of 3 main departments (Design Technology, Food and Textiles). In KS3, Food and Textiles are taught for 6 months each in Year 7
and 9 with Product Design taught all year. In year 8, all 3 subjects are taught on a carousel through the year so each group has a term of each specialism.
At KS4, we offer
GCSE Design and Technology with a Resistant Materials ‘pathway’ or a Graphics ‘pathway’. Additionally, Food Preparation and Nutrition is offered as well as Art Textiles. At KS5,
similar courses are offered in Art Textiles and Design and Technology. Exam results are excellent at both KS4 and 5 for all subjects.
Department facilities consist of 3 well-equipped workshops, 1 graphics room (as well as a dedicated work space), two textiles rooms and two food technology rooms.
