Job summary

Leeds City College is recruiting dynamic Motor Vehicle Teachers to join our expanding team at the Printworks Campus. You will teach from Level 1 to Level 3, including modern Plug-in Hybrid and Electric Vehicle technologies, to a diverse student body.

Ideal candidates have MV qualifications or industry experience, a teaching qualification or willingness to achieve one, and strong IT skills. A commitment to safeguarding and flexible hours is required.

Qualifications

  • Must hold a relevant Motor Vehicle qualification or have 2 years industry experience.
  • Must hold a full teaching qualification or be willing to work towards.
  • Digitally literate; proficient with Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to motivate diverse learners.
  • Flexible hours; some evening work and administrative tasks.
  • Previous experience with young people is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and deliver lessons across Motor Vehicle Service and Repair courses, including EV tech.
  • Contribute to high standards of aspirational teaching, learning and assessment.
  • Motivate, mentor and engage young technicians of the future.

What skills and experience we're looking for

Leeds City College is seeking dynamic, self-motivated Motor Vehicle Teachers to join our expanding team at the Printworks Campus. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a growing curriculum area that boasts a strong track record of learner success and achievement.

As an experienced automotive educator or a skilled technician looking to transition into teaching, you will deliver high-quality training across all modes of attendance from Level 1 up to Level 3.

You will teach a diverse range of students across the following programmes:
  • 16-18-year-old Study Programmes
  • Adult learners (19+) on Study Programmes

Your primary focus will be to provide an excellent learning experience, ensuring that individual learners gain the essential skills required for further study, employment, or the successful completion of their apprenticeship.

The salary for this role is £31,916 to £35,912 per annum plus a yearly market supplement of £3,000. In addition, you will also receive a one-off attraction payment of £3,000. (This payment is split into 2 halves - £1,500 will be paid on commencement of the role and £1,500 to be paid on successfully passing probation).

What You Will Do
  • Prepare and deliver inspirational lessons across a range of Motor Vehicle Service and Repair courses, including modern Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) and Electric Vehicle (EV) technologies.
  • Contribute to high standards of aspirational teaching, learning, and assessment.
  • Enthuse, motivate, and mentor the young technicians of the future, fostering a true passion for the automotive industry.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of learner progress, attendance, and achievements within the College.
  • Bring drive, determination, and a desire to make a genuine difference to young people’s lives through education.
About You
  • You must hold a relevant Motor Vehicle qualification (or equivalent) OR have a minimum of 2 years of relevant industry/trade experience.
  • You should hold a full teaching qualification, or be fully willing to work towards achieving one with the College's support.
  • You must be digitally literate and confident using standard IT systems, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) to assist with course administration and learning resources.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively motivate, inspire, and engage diverse groups of learners.
  • A strong team player with a flexible approach to working hours, as some evening work will be required alongside associated administrative tasks.
  • Previous experience working with young people is highly advantageous.
