Job summary

Harrogate College are recruiting for a Joinery Teacher with site joinery experience to join the Construction Department in Harrogate. We welcome applicants with industry experience transitioning to teaching.

The role is based in Harrogate College’s well-equipped workshops, delivering site joinery content and an employed-led curriculum to prepare learners for industry needs.

Qualifications

  • Holds a minimum of Level 3 in Joinery or equivalent.
  • Experience in site joinery.
  • Level 5 Teaching Qualification or willingness to work towards it.
  • Knowledge/experience in education is desirable.
  • Positive, can-do approach and ability to engage with young people.
  • Ability to multi-task and work individually or in a team.

Responsibilities

  • Plan exciting and relevant lessons according to City and Guilds course content.
  • Deliver and assess essential knowledge, skills and understanding for successful outcomes.
  • Responsible for retention, achievement and progression rates in specialised courses.
  • Provide high-quality planning and delivery across the course team.
  • Develop creative learning materials for learners.

About the Role

Harrogate College are recruiting for a Joinery Teacher with site joinery experience to join the already successful Construction Department in Harrogate.

We welcome applications from candidates that have industry experience and are looking to move into a teaching career.

The Construction Department boast industry-standard workshops. You will be joining the established joinery team to teach predominantly site joinery.

What You Will Do

  • You will be responsible for the retention, achievement, and positive progression rates for identified courses in your area.
  • Provide high-quality and effective planning and delivery across the course team.
  • Develop creative learning materials for learners.
About You
  • Hold a minimum of Level 3 in Joinery or equivalent.
  • Experience in site joinery.
  • Have a Level 5 Teaching Qualification, or a willingness to work towards within a given timeframe.
  • Knowledge and experience within education is desirable.
  • Have a positive, "can do" approach.
  • Be able to engage with young people.
  • Have the ability to multi-task.
  • Can work both individually and as part of a team.
