The City of Edinburgh Council is looking for a full-time Base Class Teacher to join Braidburn School in Edinburgh. The post involves teaching a base class with up to 8 learners, across Broad General Education levels, in a setting that supports children with intellectual disabilities and complex needs.

You will work within a nurturing environment, with on-site multidisciplinary therapy and medical teams, and you will be required to meet PVG pre-employment checks.

Base Class Teacher

Salary: £36,159 - £54,435
Hours: 35 per week, 52 weeks per year
Situated in the south-west of Edinburgh, Braidburn School provides a supportive learning environment for children and young people aged 3 to18 years old, with intellectual disabilities and long-term complex needs. We operate a base class model with up to 8 learners in each class. We are looking for a full-time base class teacher who is experienced to teach a range of levels across the Broad General Education. This may be in the primary or secondary phase.

Braidburn benefits from on-site multi-disciplinary therapy and medical teams in addition to our education staff. This helps our learners achieve their full potential.

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. Anunconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.

Salaries will be in accordance with the Scheme of Salaries and Conditions of Service for Teaching Staff in School Education.
