The Fusion Academy in Barwell is seeking a secondary teacher to deliver across KS3, with flexibility to cover a range of subjects and to teach your specialist area.

You will also lead our bespoke social communication curriculum, act as a form tutor, and help pupils develop life skills for their next steps. Applications from ECTs are welcome.

Job description

Teacher (Secondary) required for our Communication and Interaction School

We are looking to recruit a secondary practitioner for our Key Stage 3 provision. The teacher should have a willingness to be adaptable to work across the year groups. This could mean delivering lessons across a range of subjects whilst also having the opportunity to deliver lessons on your subject specialism.

We support young people who are aiming to achieve GCSEs and/or functional skills but who find accessing learning within a mainstream environment challenging. Teachers who are secondary subject specialists and those who are primary trained but have the skills to teach across KS3 are encouraged to apply.

The role will include being a form tutor, planning and delivering learning within all areas of the secondary curriculum to a Key Stage 3 cohort of pupils. You will also plan and deliver our bespoke social communication curriculum and work with pupils to develop life skills that prepare them for their next phase of education.

The Fusion Academy, a school for children and young people aged 7-19 with communication and interaction needs and/or autism, supports 99 pupils. We are located in a purpose built school in Barwell. The Fusion Academy is part of a Multi Academy Trust called Open Thinking Partnership.

A flexible solution focussed approach to teaching young people of mainstream academic ability while addressing their communication and interaction barriers to learning is crucial.

Salary - MPS/UPS (depending on qualifications and experience) and SEN allowance .

The start date for this position is January 2027. However, earlier start times may be considered.
