Job summary

Streets LLP is looking for an experienced tax professional to assist the tax director and team in delivering an efficient tax service to clients across a growing practice. You will manage annual compliance including personal and partnership returns, mentor trainees, and support directors with timely reporting.

You will stay up to date with current tax legislation and software developments, collaborating with a values-driven team and contributing to continuous improvement within the tax function.

Qualifications

  • Qualified to CTA or equivalent.
  • Experience in tax return preparation and willingness to take on complex tasks.
  • Attention to detail and methodical working approach.
  • Ability to prioritise work and communicate workflow to the tax director.
  • At least 4 years' experience in personal tax compliance.
  • Ability to manage multiple external and internal deadlines.
  • Excellent client communication skills.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with annual tax compliance work, including personal and partnership tax returns (trust tax returns a plus).
  • Hold statutory deadlines for tax compliance and ensure timely completion.
  • Prepare year-end tax letters for the firm.
  • Stay up to date with latest software developments and working methods.
  • Integrate with and help grow the tax team in line with company values.
  • Review work of tax trainees and mentor the trainees.
  • Support the tax director to achieve team targets with regular reporting.
  • Provide ad hoc support to Directors and staff on tax queries.
  • Keep updated on current tax legislation and assist with trainee training.
  • Assist with other tax work including advisory tasks when required.
  • Maintain excellent client relationships and handle queries professionally.

Role Overview

Assisting the tax director and the tax team to deliver an efficient and comprehensive tax service to the clients of the firm whilst meeting deadlines and supporting the directors with ad-hoc tasks and queries.

Key Responsibilities
  • To have a strong working knowledge of and undertake annual tax compliance work to include the preparation of personal tax returns and partnership tax returns. Knowledge of trust tax returns would be an advantage but are not essential as training can be provided.
  • To be responsible for managing the statutory deadlines for tax compliance work and ensure work is completed to meet deadlines.
  • Assist with the preparation of the year-end tax letters for the firm.
  • To ensure work is being undertaken in the most efficient manner, being up to date with the most recent software developments and working methods.
  • To integrate with and help develop our established but rapidly growing tax team, which aligns with the company values, has strong team ethics with can do attitude.
  • Review work carried out by tax trainees and mentor the tax trainees.
  • Assist the tax director in achieving team targets with regular and timely reporting back on results.
  • Provide ad hoc support to Directors and staff on tax queries.
  • To keep up to date with current tax legislation and assist with training the tax trainees.
  • To assist with any other tax work including advisory work that arises from time to time.
  • To have excellent client relationship skills, to be able to build strong relationships and handle client queries in a positive and client focused manner.
