Job summary

Sumer Group in Portsmouth is seeking a Tax Manager - Advisory to lead client engagements within our Tax Advisory Group. You will specialise in corporate tax and work on a varied portfolio across sectors, including international tax projects.

The role requires strong technical knowledge, ACA/ACCA/CTA qualifications preferred, and the ability to deliver clear, practical advice to clients while developing junior staff and driving tax planning opportunities.

Qualifications

• Proven experience advising SMEs and owner-managed businesses on a broad range of corporate tax matters.
• Strong technical knowledge of corporation tax, corporate reorganisations, shareholder planning, and business tax advisory.
• Experience reviewing complex corporation tax computations and returns, with the ability to identify tax planning opportunities.
• Strong client relationship management and communication skills, with the ability to deliver clear and practical advice.
• CTA qualified is advantageous; however, ATT, ACA, or ACCA qualified candidates with relevant corporate tax experience will also be considered.

Responsibilities

• Provide tax advisory across a wide range of sectors and taxes, including international tax projects.
• Review corporation tax computations and returns, identifying planning opportunities.
• Engage with clients to deliver clear, practical tax advice and maintain strong relationships.
• Support training and development within the Tax Advisory Group where appropriate.

We are looking for a highly motivated Manager to work within our Tax Advisory Group. The position would suit a motivated, dynamic individual who would already specialises in tax or who has significant tax experience working in an accounts/audit team. Our Tax Advisory Group provides tax advice across a wide variety of sectors and taxes with an increasing amount of international tax projects. Training and support will be provided to the right individual to further develop existing tax knowledge.

The CTA qualification is preferred however the right person who is either ACA or ACCA qualified will also be considered. Experience with corporate taxes is essential and experience in other areas of tax will also be beneficial, in particular international tax aspects.
