Job description

EQUANS is looking for a Tax Manager to join our team in Newcastle Upon Tyne on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. We offer a competitive salary, a company vehicle or allowance, bonus, and benefits.

The role is based 2 days per week (preferably Wednesday & Thursday) at our SSC office on Quorum Business Park, Newcastle Upon Tyne. Flexible working options are available, including full-time and part-time arrangements.

The Tax Manager will assist the Head of Tax in managing and supporting Tax Reporting, Tax Governance, Employment Taxes (including CIS), and VAT work for the Equans UK BU and potentially other UK entities within the Bouygues group.

Responsibilities include:
  1. Managing the preparation and review of Corporate Tax Returns for Equans UK BU and other group companies, with final review/sign-off by the UK Head of Tax.
  2. Ensuring timely filing of tax returns, claims, and elections, with correct tax payments.
  3. Supporting review and submission of CIS returns, employment tax compliance, VAT returns, and managing branch Corporation Tax and VAT in Ireland.
  4. Managing Group Relief settlements and all cash tax payments to HMRC.
  5. Maximizing claims and elections across the group, avoiding duplication.
External relationships:
  • Develop relationships with HMRC Large Business team and external tax advisors (BDO, KPMG, PWC).
Projects and other areas:

Support on business development, financing, financial modeling, group structuring, and tax due diligence.

Candidate requirements:
  • Experience with in-house tax teams, AlphaTax, and related software.
  • Knowledge of Employment Taxes, CIS, Stamp Taxes, VAT, and UK Corporation Tax legislation.
  • Experience in tax reporting, capital allowances, capital gains, and providing tax advice.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Teams.
  • Understanding of BEPS, transfer pricing, and recent UK tax legislative changes.
Qualifications:

Accountancy (ACA/ACCA) and/or Tax (ATT/CTA).
