Job summary

Legal & General (L&G) is seeking a Tax & Expense Operations Manager in Cardiff for a fixed-term contract until Q1 2028. You will lead a finance team, manage tax, expenses, and balance sheet processes, and partner with Group Tax to centralise operations.

You will drive rigorous financial controls, oversee key deliverables, and foster collaboration with senior stakeholders while delivering accurate, timely results in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant or equivalent experience.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial controls.
• Practical understanding of tax processes and VAT.
• Experience with cost allocation, forecasting, approvals and expenditure reporting.

Responsibilities

• Lead, motivate and develop a high-performing team with clear direction.
• Build relationships with business partners and senior stakeholders for effective decisions.
• Maintain a robust financial control framework across tax, expenses, cost allocations and balance sheet.
• Oversee day-to-day deliverables, workloads and service demands for accuracy.
• Review and approve cost allocations, tax submissions and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Coordinate inputs across divisions and challenge processes to improve efficiency and quality.
• Lead change initiatives across systems and processes from assessment to implementation.
• Create an inclusive environment empowering colleagues to improve services.
