Job summary

Legal & General (L&G) in Cardiff is seeking a Senior Finance Analyst (FTC until March 2028) to join the Finance Expense team. You will support BAU activities, deliver accurate financial reporting, and strengthen controls while collaborating with international subsidiaries and stakeholders.

The role involves month-end journals, VAT packs, reconciliations, and financial analysis to aid decision-making. AAT qualification and strong Excel skills are required, with a focus on accuracy and timely

Qualifications

• AAT qualified, part-qualified or studying towards a recognised accounting qualification.
• Strong understanding of accounting processes and principles.
• Strong Excel skills, including lookup functions.
• Experience contributing to month-end activity and meeting financial deadlines.
• Clear communication skills and the ability to explain financial information.
• Ability to build relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
• Accounting-systems or financial-services experience would be helpful but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Preparing and posting month-end journals, accruals, payroll entries and cost allocations
• Producing financial reports and explaining performance, P&L movements and variances to stakeholders
• Managing intercompany invoices, fund recharges, journals and reconciliations
• Preparing VAT packs and supporting finance and tax queries for European entities
• Completing balance-sheet reconciliations and resolving aged or outstanding items
• Processing supplier, employee and intercompany payments while maintaining a clear audit trail
• Maintaining accurate headcount and cost-centre information within finance systems
• Improving finance processes, controls and ways of working
