Job summary

Forvis Mazars UK is seeking an Assistant Manager in Tax Dispute Resolution to advise clients on a varied portfolio of tax disputes and HMRC enquiries. You will work within a collaborative team across the tax practice to deliver practical, commercially minded advice.

The role emphasizes reviewing information, researching technical issues, preparing documentation, and coaching junior colleagues while managing deadlines and client expectations.

Qualifications

• Experience in tax, tax investigations or dispute resolution within professional services, HMRC or similar environment.
• A relevant professional qualification, or progress towards one (CTA, ACA, ACCA or equivalent).
• Strong technical and analytical skills with the ability to understand complex tax issues and reach well-reasoned conclusions.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organisation and project-management skills.
• Collaborative approach and ability to build relationships with clients and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Work on a portfolio of tax dispute and enquiry matters, supporting cases from initial review through to resolution.
• Review client information, identifying key technical issues and carrying out detailed tax research.
• Prepare correspondence, reports and other documentation to communicate complex tax matters clearly and effectively.
• Liaise with clients, HMRC and colleagues, building trusted relationships and providing practical, commercially focused advice.
• Support senior colleagues on complex or higher-risk disputes, including developing case strategies and gathering supporting evidence.
• Monitor relevant changes in tax legislation and HMRC practice and consider their implications for clients.
• Manage deadlines, budgets and competing priorities while maintaining high standards of quality and client service.
• Support and coaching junior colleagues and contribute to their development.
• Work collaboratively with specialists across the wider Tax practice to provide clients with joined-up advice.
