Job summary

Armstrong Watson LLP is recruiting a Tax Compliance Assistant to join our Tax Service Line in Carlisle, with options for Penrith, West Cumbria or Leeds as part of the wider team. The role focuses on entering tax information, supporting complex computations and ensuring timely client data submission.

The candidate should have ATT or equivalent experience, a full UK driving licence, and prior accounting/tax compliance exposure in practice.

Qualifications

• ATT qualification desirable but may be considered on experience.
• Full UK Driving Licence is required.
• Experience in Accounting/Tax Compliance at an Accountancy Practice is preferred.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organisation and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Entering tax information into the relevant sections of our Tax software for review by a Tax Compliance Manager.
• Assist with complex areas within the portfolio, including Profit Sharing, Farmers Averaging Claims, CGT computations, etc.
• Send reminders to clients for required/missing information.
• Report HMRC compliance enquiry notices to the Tax Compliance Manager.
• Provide support and training on Tax data entry to Tax Compliance Trainees.
