Job summary

Larking Gowen is seeking a motivated tax assistant to join our team in Ipswich. You will support the preparation of tax returns and computations, draft Capital Gains Tax computations, and assist senior team members on advisory projects.

You will liaise with HMRC and other professionals, maintain client records, and contribute to a professional, ethical, and client-focused service. This role offers development within a supportive firm.

Qualifications

• Previous tax experience.
• English and Maths GCSEs (9-4) or equivalent.
• Experience using Microsoft packages, internet and email.
• Intermediate Excel skills.
• Basic Word skills including letter writing.
• Good customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of tax returns and computations by entering source information provided by clients, including rental income, basic self-employment income and expenditure accounts.
• Draft basic Capital Gains Tax computations and returns for senior review.
• Prepare HMRC forms for senior review, including tax elections and amended PAYE tax codes.
• Assist senior team members on tax advisory projects.
• Liaise with HMRC and other professionals regarding client affairs.
• Ensure professional ethical procedures are adhered to.
• Manage and update the in-house database for client details.
