Job summary

TC Group is hiring a Tax Assistant for its Stanley or Ferryhill team on a 12-month fixed-term maternity cover. The role offers hybrid working after probation, with 35 hours per week and a focus on high-quality tax compliance for diverse clients.

We seek at least 2 years in practice, ATT or willingness to study, and strong organisational, client-service and numerical skills, plus familiarity with CCH and Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years' experience within an accountancy practice.
• \nExperience preparing personal tax and/or corporate tax compliance work.
• Strong organisational, attention to detail and deadline management.
• Good communication, relationship-building and client service skills.
• Proactive, solutions-focused approach and ability to work independently or in a team.
• Strong problem-solving, written and numeracy skills; high ethical standards.
• Basic Microsoft Office skills; CCH experience advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Prepare Personal Tax Returns for a varied portfolio of clients.
• Assist with Corporate Tax Returns preparation.
• Support completion and submission of P11D forms.
• Undertake Company Secretarial work and maintain statutory records.
• Provide administrative and compliance support to the tax team, ensuring work is accurate and on time.

The Opportunity

As a Tax Assistant, you’ll support the delivery of high-quality tax compliance services to a varied client portfolio. Working alongside experienced tax professionals, you’ll gain exposure to personal and corporate tax matters while developing your technical skills and progressing your career within a supportive and collaborative team.

What You'll Be Doing

• Preparing Personal Tax Returns for a varied portfolio of clients.
• Assisting with the preparation of Corporate Tax Returns.
• Supporting the completion and submission of P11D forms.
• Undertaking Company Secretarial work and maintaining statutory records.
• Providing administrative and compliance support to the tax team while ensuring work is completed accurately and within deadlines.

What We're Looking For

• At least 2 years' experience within an accountancy practice environment.
• Experience preparing personal tax and/or corporate tax compliance work.
• Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to meet deadlines.
• Good communication, relationship-building and client service skills.
• A proactive, solutions-focused approach with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong problem-solving, written and numeracy skills, with high ethical standards.
• Basic Microsoft Office skills; experience using CCH would be advantageous.
• Working towards ATT (or a willingness to study)
• A full UK driving licence would be beneficial.
